Energy Price Adjustment

Energy Price Adjustment (EPA)

EPA applies to monthly-billed tariffs and some Personal Contracts for large energy users only.

Each bill is adjusted to reflect recent changes in the price of 'wholesale' electricity in the all-island Single Electricity Market. Wholesale prices are affected by the price of fuel used in the power stations, supply and demand, currency exchange rates, availability of transmission lines etc. Click here to view the latest price trends in the Single Electricity Market

The EPA adjustment is based on the number of units of electricity used (kWh). It can either be a credit or a debit and thereby provides an element of protection for both parties from excessive, unexpected price swings. Each supply is placed into one of the following EPA categories:

NOTES

  1. EPA applies to monthly-billed tariffs and some Personal Contracts for large energy users only.
  2. In the absence of accurate consumption history, medium voltage supplies with a Maximum Import Capacity of less than 100kVA will be deemed SMV.
  3. The EPA category for each supply will be reviewed annually on 1 October.
