Discounted electricity
Discounted electricity
We offer discount to customers who pay by the following methods:
Monthly Direct Debit - pay an agreed amount each month and get 4% discount saving up to £34 a year (£8.50 a quarter)
Quarterly Direct Debit - pay the whole bill amount by Direct Debit, 14 days after the bill date and get 2.5% discount saving up to £22 a year (£5.50 a quarter)
Pay-as-you-go Keypad - customers with a Keypad meter get 2.5% discount off the standard rate. These customers buy electricity top-ups as and when they need them, a bit like buying a top-up for a mobile phone.
Why do you not offer discount with other payment methods?
We try to run our business as efficiently as possible, while at the same time offering a range of convenient payment methods to suit all our customers. The reasons we only offer discount with the above schemes include:
- Direct Debit is the lowest cost way for us to collect payments
- Monthly Direct Debit improves our cash-flow
- If a customer pays by cash in the post office or posts us a cheque, we incur higher transaction fees
- Cheque and cash payments can be affected by external factors, for example delays in the post or at the bank. Direct Debit payments almost always arrive on-time, every time
- Keypad customers do not get bills or reminders and we can share these savings as discount off the standard rate.
